Description The Michelson Medical Research Foundation seeks to unravel the complexity of the human immune system, accelerating the development of vaccines and therapies for some of the world’s most threatening diseases. The focus areas include research on human immunology and vaccine development, addressing current roadblocks in vaccine development, expanding understanding of key immune processes essential for vaccines and immunotherapies, and encouraging innovative, non-traditional, and cross-disciplinary approaches from fields such as clinical research, biochemistry, molecular biology, protein engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, biophysics, and nanotechnology. The Michelson Medical Research Foundation provides $150,000 research grants annually to support early-career investigators who demonstrate novel ideas and the potential to drive transformative change in immunology and vaccine research. They seek proposals that challenge conventional approaches and introduce creative, high-impact solutions to advance vaccine and immunotherapy development. Eligibility is limited to applicants aged 35 or younger by the application deadline, including early-career investigators, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, doctoral students, and researchers in training positions. They accept international applicants from a wide range of organizations such as academic institutions, biotechnology companies, research institutes, and governmental or non-governmental organizations. While prior experience in immunology or vaccinology is not mandatory, applicants must clearly demonstrate how their research will contribute to advancing human immunology or vaccine science.
