Description The Defeat Duchenne Canada is inviting applications for its Research Grant to support innovative research aimed at improving the health and quality of life of individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The focus areas include discovery, translational, supportive, and clinical research, with an emphasis on innovation, patient-centered approaches, improved clinical care, enhanced quality of life, and reducing the burden of illness for patients and caregivers, while prioritizing projects with strong potential for timely and cost-effective translation into clinical practice. Defeat Duchenne Canada aims to fund promising research through strong collaborations with academics and clinicians, continuing a legacy that has supported Duchenne muscular dystrophy research globally. Eligibility criteria require that the Principal Investigator holds an advanced degree such as an MD, PhD, or equivalent and is affiliated with an eligible institution including universities, hospitals, research institutes, or relevant organizations. Both Canadian and international applicants are eligible to apply, provided their institutions comply with the legal requirements under the laws of Ontario, Canada. Applicants are limited to one submission as Principal Investigator, although co-investigators may participate in multiple applications. Trainees such as graduate students and postdoctoral researchers cannot apply as Principal Investigators but may be included as co-applicants.
